The Chantry Chinook boundary map shown on the website and in the derby brochure shows a number of boat launch sites. These are shown for reference purposes and safety only.
Some, such as those in Kincardine, Sauble Beach, Oliphant, Southampton and Port Elgin harbour are free to launch during the derby. A few operated by municipalities and other agencies, including Lions Head, Pike Bay, and Inverhuron are user pay. Some shown are operated by private clubs and as such are not available to outside users.
The Derby committee posts this information to the best of our knowledge, has no control over any of the sites and therefore assumes no responsibility for water access. It is the responsibility of derby participants to ensure accessibility and launch conditions for your boat.
2014 THERMAL MONITORING PROGRAM
Bruce Power has set many temperature probes along the shoreline of Lake Huron in the area of the hydro plant. The probes are vertical and there is no requirement to give them a wide berth.
Click here to view a map with their approximate locations.
Please do not confuse them with the commercial fishing nets that are typically set at depths of 80 feet or more.
